I think this crises has shown that is possible to build another (slave) root disk, and then basically exchange disks when the master disk fails. I propose to proceed with such an arrangement. CZ buys a new disk, puts it in there, in place of the current 80, and then we mirror every day all files from the master to the slave. In an emergency, we replace master and slave and we are done. In addition, we should keep an extrenal backup. One is now being kept on snefru. When we have a slave disk, the external backup can be made from the slave disk, saving I/O on the master.
