citation difference: ideas vs author service (fwd)
The discrepancy of citation counts between RAS and CitEc is still unresolved and needs an explanation, for example through a blog post I could link to... ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Tue, 9 Jun 2009 02:28:22 -0400 From: "Ron.Borzekowski@frb.gov" <Ron.Borzekowski@frb.gov> To: "authors@repec.org" <authors@repec.org> Subject: citation difference: ideas vs author service Regards, I have read the FAQ and seen the note that time lags may be the cause of discrepancies between citations listed on an article's page in Ideas and the list in the author service. But, at least in my case, the difference is large, has lasted for a long time and seems to follow no logical pattern. For instance, some count citations from two versions of a citing work as two; sometimes as one; and a bunch of cites are missing from the RAS but are in Ideas and in the monthly e-mail. If you would like to use me as a guinea pig for looking into the overall issue, please feel free since it not obvious what is causing the differences. For the record though, I have to say that the linking of old working papers with published work is fantastic - keep up the great effort.
