currently the MX record at our ISP for repec.org points to raneb.openlib.org. and the MX record for mail.repec.org points to snefru.openlib.org. The latter works. The first does not. And mail sent to authors@repec.org gets 'no SMTP prompt at host'.

If raneb cannot be relied on, maybe it is better to revert to your machine. The problem there is resolved, isn't it?

Christian,
It is not clear to me that mail to repec@repec.org is going anywhere. I tried sending messages from two of my accounts at 2301 and 2304 and neither of them has shown up. I sent mail at 2306 to repec@mail.repec.org and it came through in a minute. So I'm not sure that reverting to the 'official' address is a good idea if it corresponds to /dev/null.
