I have installed a 2.6 kernel, but it is not the default. I urge you to try it out next time you get next to the box. It could be that this clears the problem we have with the disk.
I also think we should upgrade the xslt library and apache.
xslt upgrades in the past have created web site crashes. xslt has been explicitly excluded from dselect upgrades.
