After trying things (hoping not to make matters worse), I finally managed to fix that. clean-up was failing to clean a session. I had to remove that session from the sessions directory to make the problem disappear (name the session fiel to something else was not sufficient). After that 2700 sessions were successfully cleaned. The event archiver is now complaining it has too much to do... There are still 2300 sessions labelled as bad, dating back several years. Not sure what to do about those. On Wed, 6 Feb 2013, 'Christian Zimmermann' wrote:
This is my daily call for help. We have now 2300 open and unsaved sessions... and plenty of people expressing concern their changes are not showing up or their account is "damaged". An idea on how to fix this would be appreciated. The doc is silent on this.

It turns out that people who change their email address and leave without closing their session cannot log in with the old or new address. I guess this is also linked to open sessions not closing properly. Ivan, I need guidance here.

Plenty of sessions are not timing out, which means changes are not being committed to the database. More and more people get the "account damaged" error message. Ivan, I need some advice here. I tried restarting rid, but the problem persists.

I have noticed a large number of user lock files that are not getting cleared. Related?

Here is what I managed to find: the first instance of the problem, it then repeats with the same session number:

Others managed to delete their accounts successfully (I went after people with multiple accounts).

Sorry, Christian.
I think this should be safe, or at most a one-time issue, but which simply stuck. I guess it is repeated on every session-clear run for some specific broken session, which never gets cleared. To be 100% sure I need to check, and I may be able to do that tomorrow or on Friday.
