no. create_tables creates mysql tables. update deamon data is in
berkeley db. I don't remember how to recreate that.
But you would still have to delete the mysql tables, otherwise
  you run the risk of zombie records.

i don't understand what is "foo" here and how that is supposed to help.
Would be RePEc, ACIS, CitEc, all db's rid knows about.
