Last time it had NOTHING to do with any software, it was a hardware issue and thing only got better after I convinced you, after many hours of email, to change the hardware. I doubt the issue we are having now has to do with software but at this stage I can not say. I did not update the software recently. I think I see here an issue that I had with sahure, and taht was fixed (I hope) by a kernel update. It appears that the issue only affects ssh access. I think we can set back the http, it should work as normal. Can you try an ssh root@nebka /bin/bash -i I can set the DNS back, but we won't have shell access. ok? You did right after the recent restart, no? upgrade of perl etc.

ping works. We had defined authors_alt.repec.org in the DNS to try the server before going live, but I see it set to repec.econ.uconn.edu right now.

I ready have a sorry site made for the list downtime, at raneb. I have just set back the DNS to the full site. I can sent back to sorry if you are not comfortable running nebka withoutt ssh. I had fixed something to prevent rsync to overlap with other tasks way back when. But that was obviously overwritten with your crontab, and I must have not caught it when I tried to fix back. I do not understand why this would be necessary if it worked fine before. There must be something still lying in the crontab that eats up resources like crazy. Christian Zimmermann FIGUGEGL! Yes, a htop would reveal the issue. Here is the question: will you clear up this issue or should I do it. If we both rush to do it, things will break again. Cheers, Thomas Krichel http://openlib.org/home/krichel RePEc:per:1965-06-05:thomas_krichel new phone: +7 913 748 8056 skype: thomaskrichel
You have a better understanding of the internals. And htop indeed should be revealing. Christian Zimmermann FIGUGEGL!
