Hi Thomas,
A user notified me that CollEc is not updated. And upon checking the
respective server files, I found out that CollEc has apparently not been
updated in months. The input file that my code utilizes
(ras_mans_texts... in /home/icanis/opt/input) was last changed on June 02.
We talked about this issue in summer and I thought it was fixed. Could
you check why the machine does not generate this RAS export?
Thanks.
Kind regards,
Christian

Hi,
this is just landed on my desk. There are errors from my lovely bbbb
script that backs up machines. Here its job is the backup of helos
onto aigtu. I usually back up /etc /home /var and /root, but even
there any folder called opt and its contents in excluded.
Is there anything in /var/lib/docker that we want to have
backed up, or can the entire folder be excluded?

Hey,
I think Helos is offline. Is that intended?

Dear Thomas,
Someone contacted me regarding missing CollEc updates (see below). I found the source of the problem. It lies in CollEc's input data. /home/icanis/icanis/opt/input/ras_mans_texts...xml used to be updated every night. It apparently stopped on February 01, 2021. I thought we agreed to keep your script generating that file running? It is just an import of RAS data and should be computationally cheap.
Kind regards,
Christian

Subject: missing REPEC-registered (co-)author in Collec?
Dear colleague,
Many thanks for having enhanced through your work the features of Collec on RePec and for you insightful instruction video on how to interpret the concepts and its results. I had a small follow-up question for which I could not find the answer in the documentation: how long does it normally take for a newly-registered author in RePec to be included in the Collec statistics?
Of course, the question arises from a personal observation: one of my co-authors, George Mavrotas (pma3035, no to be confused with a colleague bearing the same name, pma2789), has registered with RePec a few months ago and as I failed to see him appear in my Collec co-author statistics, I checked his personal page to find out that he does not yet seem to be included in Collec. Is this normal that it takes a number of months to be included or should this be reported as an error?
Kind regards

I updated CollEc, primarily adding media queries that make the app mobile friendlier. These queries resize some of the static content on smaller screens.
Let me know when the RAS input data is available again. I may then need to adjust the daily updating routine to a new data directory or time schedule.

Can I upgrade helos? I would like to have it at a pretty
recent version, like the "testing" version of debian. How
should I go about that?

Hi,
I noticed this morning that CollEc's MariaDB had been down for five days. Consequently, the app did not produce any results during that time.
It looks like the entire system took a hit five days ago. Usually, that is not a problem. The Docker containers are set to restart automatically. While the ShinyProxy container did restart, the MariaDB container was damaged to an extent that Docker could not restart it.
Large organizations construct their IT infrastructure based on Docker. So the system is built to be robust and it takes serious events in the host system to cause critical errors preventing automatic restarts. And even when that happens, I can usually set it up again with a few lines of code. To do that, I have to notice that something is wrong in the first place.
As I only check CollEc infrequently these days, I would like set up a notification system that sends an e-mail alert following critical errors. In particular, I would like to use the system outlined in this post: https://dummylabs.com/post/2018-08-15-monit/. It uses Monit to send e-mail alerts. Monit needs to be connected to an e-mail account / mail server. Is there a mail server on Helos that I can connect it to?
Kind regards,
Christian

The CollEc app is offline.
The docker images that the app's components use are static. No software, packages, or modules are updated. Therefore, the problem is unlikely to originate from within the app.
The issue appears to originate at the web server level. Any ideas what might be going on?
